On most commercial architectural design projects, the Architect includes the interior finish materials and specific color selections in the design. In this way, clients are assured the new interior will be compatible with its intended use and the character of the building. Specifying the materials also allows competitive bidding on these aspects of the buidling construction, including them into the general contract and removing doubt about their cost or quality.
